Bajau
Leisure Cruise in Indonesia
Bajau is a 27.2-meter handcrafted wooden liveaboard accommodating 8 guests across 4 en-suite cabins, operated by Nomad Archipelago. Solar-powered and air-conditioning-free by design, the vessel runs 8 to 11-night snorkeling and leisure cruises across Komodo, Raja Ampat, the Banggai Archipelago, Wakatobi, Taka Bonerate, Halmahera, and the Banda Arc. Bajau is also available for private scuba diving charters with a fully equipped onboard dive room. For the 2026/2027 season, rates start from USD $367 per person per day.
Bajau is the sister vessel to Bugis within the Nomad Archipelago fleet — nearly identical in design, philosophy, and dimensions, with the same solar-powered silent operation, the same crew of nine for eight guests, and the same slow travel approach. The key distinction is Bajau's purpose-built dive room, which replaces the snorkeling-only activities room found on Bugis. Fully equipped with scuba gear, a prep area, rinsing station, storage, repair tools, first aid, and emergency oxygen, the dive room makes Bajau the vessel of choice for private groups wanting scuba diving alongside the leisure cruise experience. Shared departures remain snorkeling and leisure focused, consistent with Nomad Archipelago's general program.
Four cabins on the main deck offer a more varied configuration than fleet partner Bugis. Two cabins feature a double bed (200 x 140cm) with an overhead bunk (200 x 90cm). One cabin offers a two-sleeper bunk bed (200 x 90cm each). One cabin provides a king bed (200 x 180cm) — the most spacious sleeping option in the fleet. All cabins have private en-suite bathrooms, ceiling fans, reading lights, 220V sockets, ample storage, towels, and eco-friendly toiletries with daily cleaning throughout. Like Bugis, there is no air conditioning — the main deck position, large windows, and ventilation louvres are designed to keep cabins comfortable through natural airflow.
Three shared guest areas run across two decks. The covered main deck provides a casual open-sided dining and lounging area. The forward upper deck offers a quiet open-air space for reading or sunrise coffee. The rear upper deck is part-shaded with a bar for sundowners and stargazing. Kayaks, stand-up paddleboards, and an adventure tender support exploration between passages. The operator follows conditions and curiosity rather than a fixed daily schedule, with itineraries shaped by the tides and the character of each anchorage. Destinations span Komodo, Raja Ampat, the Banggai Archipelago, and Discovery routes through Wakatobi, Taka Bonerate, Halmahera, and the Banda Arc.
