Calico Jack
Liveaboard in Indonesia
Calico Jack is a 30-meter traditional Phinisi liveaboard built by the Konjo people of South Sulawesi, accommodating 10 guests across 5 en-suite cabins with a crew of 10. A Raja Ampat specialist, the vessel runs primarily 11-night expeditions across Raja Ampat, Triton Bay, Banda Sea, and Cenderawasih Bay, with 3–4 dives daily. Nitrox, beach BBQs, and beach setups included. Rates starting from USD $396 per person per day.
Calico Jack was built using the traditional Phinisi shipbuilding methods of the Konjo people of South Sulawesi — handcrafted wooden construction designed for seaworthiness and the ability to navigate the shallow reef systems of the Indonesian archipelago. Powered by dual Mitsubishi 220HP diesel engines with a cruising speed of up to 12 knots, the vessel is built for long-range operations, capable of running extended expeditions far from port across remote regions including the outer reaches of Raja Ampat, Triton Bay, and the Banda Sea. The onboard water maker produces 5,000 litres per day, supporting full independence during extended passages.
Five cabins accommodate a maximum of 10 guests — two convertible cabins (double or twin), two double cabins for couples, and one twin cabin ideal for friends or solo travelers. All cabins feature en-suite bathrooms with hot showers, air conditioning, charging sockets, storage, and daily housekeeping. Common areas include a sun deck with shaded lounging, an observation deck with sunbeds, an indoor lounge, outdoor dining, a bar and BBQ area, projector screen, and a sound system. Starlink Wi-Fi is available onboard.
Diving is led by two experienced dive guides and a dedicated dive instructor, with a marine biologist serving as cruise director — adding species identification and reef ecology context to each dive. Groups are capped at a 1:5 diver-to-guide ratio, with nitrox available onboard and a full camera station with separate rinse tanks for underwater photographers. Most itineraries are 11 nights, covering Raja Ampat, Triton Bay, Banda Sea, and Cenderawasih Bay. Between dives, guests can kayak through limestone lagoons, paddleboard quiet bays, or join signature beach BBQ evenings on remote islands.
