Damai I

Liveaboard in Indonesia

5 (4 reviews)

Damai I is a 40-meter luxury Phinisi liveaboard built in 2009 by master builder Pak Hadji Baso of Tanjung Bira, South Sulawesi, accommodating 12 guests across 7 staterooms ranging from 18 to 40 sqm. For the 2026/2027 season, the vessel operates 8 to 12-night itineraries across Raja Ampat, Triton Bay, Banda Sea, and Cenderawasih Bay, with a 4:1 guest-to-guide ratio. Single supplement at just 30%. Rates starting from USD $581 per person per day.

Damai I was built by Pak Hadji Baso, widely regarded as the most prestigious traditional Phinisi builder in Tanjung Bira, South Sulawesi. Built in 2009 with an 8-meter beam, the vessel offers exceptional stability for long-range passages and was designed specifically around the demands of serious dive expeditions. The schedule reflects this ambition — itineraries span the full breadth of eastern Indonesia, from Raja Ampat and Triton Bay to Cenderawasih Bay, Halmahera, Gorontalo, Alor, Komodo, the Banda Sea, and the Forgotten Islands, following seasonal trade winds across the archipelago year-round.

Seven staterooms accommodate up to 12 guests on standard departures, with sizes ranging from 18 sqm single cabins to 40 sqm master cabins. All rooms are furnished with queen or king-size beds, en-suite bathrooms, and individual climate control. The vessel features three large deck areas for relaxation and spa treatments. Damai I was the first liveaboard in Indonesia to carry three dive guides and one instructor on every departure — maintaining a consistent 4:1 guest-to-guide ratio regardless of group size. Two custom high-speed tenders handle dive site transfers, while dedicated camera stations with individual workstations and integrated 110V and 220V charging serve underwater photographers. Complimentary beer on free flow and a glass of wine with dinner are included throughout the voyage, and the single supplement is set at just 30% above the double rate — one of the lowest in Indonesia's premium liveaboard segment.
