Epica

Liveaboard in Indonesia

4.9 (2 reviews)

Epica is a 24-meter traditional fishing vessel refitted for diving with sustainably planted timber, accommodating 12 guests across 6 air-conditioned bunk cabins with two shared bathrooms. A Raja Ampat specialist operated by Scuba Republic, the vessel runs 7 and 9-night itineraries across the Dampier Strait, Misool, and Wayag. For the 2026/2027 season, rates start from USD $212 per person per day.

Epica is the most affordable vessel in the Scuba Republic fleet — a traditional fishing boat completely refitted for diving, built using sustainably planted wood. Like fleet partner Jaya, she is operated by Scuba Republic, a Raja Ampat-based organization with a basecamp on Waigeo, deep community ties, and local guides who know these waters intimately. The boat crew of four is supported by dedicated divemasters, an instructor, and a cruise director — keeping the operation lean while maintaining professional dive supervision. The vessel consistently earns strong reviews for the quality of diving, the energy of the team, and the social atmosphere onboard.

Six bunk cabins on the lower deck accommodate up to 12 guests. Cabins are basic but functional, each with air conditioning, a fan, power sockets, and access to two shared bathrooms with freshwater showers. The upper deck serves as the main common area — buffet meals are served here around a large communal table, with beanbags and a hammock for relaxing between dives. The dive prep area at the stern of the lower deck handles tank filling and equipment setup, with direct water entry at many sites and a tender for more remote locations.

Three itineraries cover the main areas of Raja Ampat. The 7-night Best of Dampier focuses on the Dampier Strait with around 19 dives across sites including Blue Magic, Cape Kri, Citrus Ridge, Manta Sandy, and Melissa's Garden. The 9-night Dampier and Misool adds the Misool island network including Love Lagoon and Jellyfish Lake for approximately 21 dives. The 9-night Wayag and Dampier heads north to the iconic Wayag viewpoint and surrounding reefs before returning through the Dampier Strait. Inclusions cover three daily meals, drinking water, tea and coffee, fresh towels, tanks, weights, and dive guides.

Booking FAQ

Booking is easy - a 50% deposit secures your spot immediately, with the remaining balance due 40 days before departure. If you're booking within 40 days of your trip, full payment is required to confirm your reservation. For expedition liveaboard trips (9 days or longer) or Christmas and New Year’s trips, full payment is required at least 70 days before departure. Popular routes book 6-12 months or even further, so we recommend securing your spot early.
