Jakare
Liveaboard in Indonesia
Jakare is a 30-meter traditional Phinisi liveaboard built between 2015 and 2017 in Tanah Beru, South Sulawesi, accommodating 10 to 12 guests across 5 cabins — two standard front cabins, two premium central cabins, and the exclusive aft Dewi Sri cabin with a private deck and direct water access. For the 2026/2027 season, itineraries cover Raja Ampat, Komodo, Banda Sea, and Halmahera. Nitrox and TEK diving available. Rates starting from USD $394 per person per day.
Jakare is a boutique Phinisi built by HJ Puga's family in the Tanah Beru boatbuilding community of South Sulawesi — a village whose tradition of constructing wooden vessels by hand, using wooden pegs rather than nails and timber dried for over a year, stretches back generations. The vessel operates without a superstructure above deck, which gives it an unusually generous open living space relative to its 30-meter length. Jakaré is certified as a Responsible Operator with Longitude 181, incorporating solar panels and sustainable operational practices into daily life onboard.
Five named cabins across two configurations accommodate 10 to 12 guests. The two Banggai front cabins each feature a 120 cm bed and an 85 cm single bed. The two premium central cabins — Lotus 1 and 2 — each offer a 140 cm double bed and an 80 cm single. The Dewi Sri aft cabin is the most distinctive, with a 150 cm double bed and a private wooden deck providing direct access to the water at sea level. All cabins have en-suite bathrooms and individual air conditioning. Common areas include a shaded 360-degree dining area, a lounge with beanbag seating, a large sundeck, a yoga space, and a rear relaxation deck.
The onboard dive center is led by a bilingual French and English-speaking instructor and supports recreational, TEK, and Closed Circuit Rebreather (CCR) diving — a technical capability uncommon on vessels of this size. Nitrox is available for certified divers. Three dives per day are typical, with early morning dives prioritized and night dives scheduled based on conditions and guest preference. Dive tenders include a rigid 5.8m dinghy and a 5m RIB, both with 40HP engines. Water sports equipment includes kayaks, a SUP, and a wakeboard. For the 2026/2027 season, destinations include Raja Ampat, Komodo National Park, Alor, Banda Sea, Halmahera, Togean Islands, and Triton Bay.
