Jaya
Liveaboard in Indonesia
Jaya is a 23-meter traditional Phinisi expedition liveaboard built in 1999, accommodating up to 14 guests across 7 cabins — 3 double cabins with en-suite bathrooms and 4 twin cabins with shared bathrooms. A Raja Ampat specialist operated by Scuba Republic, the vessel runs 7-night Dampier Strait and 9-night Dampier and Misool itineraries from Waisai. For the 2026/2027 season, rates start from USD $252 per person per day.
Jaya is operated by Scuba Republic, a Raja Ampat-based dive operation with a basecamp on Waigeo Island, multiple liveaboards, a dive center, and deep roots in the local community. Their operation is run in close collaboration with local villages and guides, making it a strong choice for divers who want their experience to benefit the people and ecosystems of Raja Ampat directly rather than purely external operators. Jaya herself has been in service since 1999, captained by the same skipper throughout, and is the most characterful vessel in the Scuba Republic fleet — compact, capable, and well-regarded by repeat guests.
Seven cabins below deck accommodate up to 14 guests. Three double cabins each have en-suite bathrooms. Four twin cabins share two bathrooms between them. All cabins are air-conditioned with power sockets and freshwater showers. The upper deck offers generous shaded lounging space with separate tables and seating for socializing between dives. The sun deck has beanbags for napping or stargazing. The dive deck carries tanks around the perimeter with central space for fins, masks, and wetsuits, plus freshwater containers for cameras and torches.
Three daily meals with fruit and snacks, drinking water, tea and coffee, tanks, weights, a dive guide, and harbour transfers between Waisai and Scuba Republic's Basecamp are all included. Dive groups are capped at 4:1. The 7-night Dampier Strait itinerary covers approximately 19 dives across sites including Blue Magic, Cape Kri, Melissa's Garden, and Citrus Ridge, with land visits to Arborek Village, Piaynemo, and a flying fox beach. The 9-night Dampier and Misool option adds roughly 3 additional days in Misool including Love Lagoon and Jellyfish Lake.
