Kira Kira
Liveaboard in Indonesia
Kira Kira is a traditional Phinisi liveaboard launched in 2014, hand-crafted by Konjo boat builders on the beaches of Mandala Ria in Ara village, South Sulawesi. Accommodating 8 guests across 4 cabins — 2 double and 2 twin — with shared bathrooms and natural ventilation, the vessel runs year-round itineraries across Raja Ampat, Komodo, and the Banda Sea. Powered entirely by solar panels. For the 2026/2027 season, rates start from USD $170 per person per day.
Kira Kira is the older of two sister vessels operated by Liquid Adventures Indonesia, sailing since 2014 alongside its 2018-built partner Akomo Isseki. Both are traditional Phinisi sailing vessels built by the Konjo people of Bira, South Sulawesi, crewed by Bugis seafarers from the same community. The vessel runs entirely on solar power, eliminating engine noise at anchor and reducing emissions to near zero — one of the few genuine eco-operations in the Indonesian liveaboard market. At 7 knots under motor and capable of sailing with prevailing winds, Kira Kira is built for unhurried exploration and carries 3,000 litres of freshwater onboard with daily charging available for electrical equipment.
Four cabins across two configurations accommodate 8 guests. Two double cabins and two twin cabins are all naturally ventilated without air conditioning, constructed from Kendoli and Teak with large beds, portholes, storage cupboards for dive gear, and a personal wardrobe. Two shared modern bathrooms with home flush toilets serve all guests. The recently refurbished cabins, sun lounge, and dining area sit beneath a low-lying superstructure with deck coverage running bow to stern — generous open space for relaxing between dives and watching sunsets.
The rate covers full crew and planned itinerary, full board with three freshly prepared meals plus snacks, drinking water, tea and coffee, tanks and weights, a cruise director and dive guides, and shore excursions and BBQs where conditions permit. Rental dive gear, national park fees, alcohol, and gratuity are not included. Kira Kira suits small groups, families, couples, or individual travelers joining scheduled charters who want an authentic, low-impact Indonesian sailing experience at an entry-level price point.
