La Galigo
Liveaboard in Indonesia
La Galigo is a 33-meter traditional Phinisi liveaboard built in 2012 by Bugis craftsmen from Bira, Southern Sulawesi, using ironwood and teak. Accommodating 14 guests across 7 cabins in three classes — Deluxe, Master, and Suite — the vessel operates 6 to 12-day itineraries across Raja Ampat, Komodo National Park, Lembeh, and Halmahera. For the 2026/2027 season, rates start from USD $350 per person per day.
La Galigo is a traditional two-mast Phinisi schooner built in 2012 by master craftsmen from Bira, Southern Sulawesi — a community whose boat-building tradition stretches back centuries. The hull is constructed from Kayu Besi ironwood with teak interiors, giving the vessel a total displacement of over 169 gross tons. Designed and managed by an experienced liveaboard diver, the boat prioritizes diving functionality without sacrificing comfort, with a dedicated dive platform, soundproofed engine room, and nitrox available onboard.
Guests are accommodated across seven cabins in three categories. Four Deluxe Cabins on the lower deck each measure 12 sqm with en-suite bathrooms, climate control, and American spring mattresses — positioned low in the hull for guests prone to sea sickness. Two Master Cabins on the upper deck offer 14 sqm with private en-suite facilities and direct sunrise views. The Suite, also on the upper deck, provides 22 sqm with a 48-inch HD TV, private lounge, and a 270-degree panoramic balcony — the most spacious cabin on the vessel.
For the 2026/2027 season, La Galigo runs 6 to 12-day itineraries across Raja Ampat, Komodo National Park, Lembeh, Halmahera, and the Bangka-Sangihe Archipelago. Up to four dives are offered daily with small groups, supported by Aqualung and Scubapro rental equipment, 32% nitrox, SMBs, reef hooks, and dive computers included at no extra charge. Safety equipment includes a defibrillator, EPIRB emergency locator, 12 hours of emergency oxygen, and life rafts for all guests.
