Sea Safari 8

Liveaboard in Indonesia

0 (0 reviews)

Sea Safari 8 is a 35-meter traditional Phinisi liveaboard built from Ulin ironwood, accommodating up to 24 guests across 12 en-suite cabins on 4 decks. Part of the Sea Safari Cruises fleet operating since 1988, the vessel runs itineraries across Raja Ampat, Halmahera, North and Central Sulawesi, and the Sangihe Archipelago. Nitrox available onboard. For the 2026/2027 season, rates start from USD $360 per person per day.

Sea Safari 8 covers a distinctly different seasonal circuit from fleet partners Cheng Ho and Sea Safari VI — focused on the northern and eastern reaches of the archipelago rather than Komodo or Alor. Based in Sorong, the vessel's primary destination is Raja Ampat, with crossing itineraries extending into Halmahera, North and Central Sulawesi, and the Sangihe Archipelago — a region that relatively few Indonesian liveaboards regularly service. Like its fleet partners, the vessel was renovated in 2020 and built in-house from Ulin ironwood by Sea Safari Cruises, one of Indonesia's longest-established operators with over three decades of continuous operations.

Twelve cabins accommodate up to 24 guests across four configurations on the lower deck, all with en-suite bathrooms with hot and cold showers. Six double cabins and four twin cabins serve couples and pairs. One cabin with two bunk beds accommodates up to four guests, and one cabin with a single bunk accommodates two — both suited to small groups or families. All cabins include air conditioning, hair dryer, bathrobes and towels, a safety box, and hand sanitiser. Common areas span four decks with an indoor restaurant and bar, indoor and outdoor sofa lounge areas, a sun deck with lazy beds, a jacuzzi, a dedicated dive deck, and a camera station. Kayaks and stand-up paddleboards are available for guest use.

Diving is supported by two aluminium speedboats, an ENOS diver locator system for each diver, and EAN 32% nitrox available onboard. Navigation equipment includes Furuno GPS, Koden radar and echo sounder, EPIRB, satellite phone, and both VHF and SSB radio. For the 2026/2027 season, itineraries cover Raja Ampat, Halmahera, North and Central Sulawesi, and the Sangihe Archipelago.
