Sokaraja

Sokaraja is a 25-meter traditional Phinisi liveaboard built in 2013 and renovated in 2024, accommodating up to 10 guests across 3 cabins — 2 private doubles and a 6-berth dorm — in Komodo National Park. A Komodo specialist welcoming both divers and snorkelers, the vessel runs 3 to 5-night itineraries with up to 3 dives per day. For the 2026/2027 season, rates start from USD $161 per person per day.

Sokaraja was founded by Luca, a PADI Instructor with over a decade of experience who arrived in Komodo in 2013 after 25 years traveling and diving around the world. The vessel — her name meaning "King of Flowers" in Indonesian — runs a straightforward budget-to-mid-range format with a 1:4 guide-to-diver ratio. Divers need Open Water certification and a minimum of 30 logged dives to join; a Deep Dive Adventure or the Advanced Open Water course can be completed onboard for an additional fee for those who don't yet meet this. Snorkelers are welcomed with a dedicated guide and included equipment, making the boat a solid option for mixed groups. A standard itinerary covers sites including Sebayur Kecil, Waenilu, Siaba Besar, Batu Bolong, Manta Point, Castle Rock, and Crystal Rock, alongside island excursions to the Kalong flying fox colony, a Komodo dragon trek on Rinca Island, Taka Makassar, Mawan, and a sunset hike. The boat operates year-round, with April to August considered peak season for diving conditions.

Three cabins accommodate up to 10 guests. Two Private Double cabins — one on the main deck, one on the upper deck — offer private en-suite accommodation for couples. A 6-berth dorm cabin completes the layout, well suited to solo travelers, backpackers, or small groups who'd rather put their budget toward extra dives than a private cabin. Common areas include an open-air dining room with 270-degree ocean views, a living room with a couch, HD screen, and sound system for reviewing photos or watching movies, a spacious sun deck at the front with a large mattress, and a shaded chill-out area at the back. Solar panels reduce reliance on the generator, keeping nights quieter at anchor.

Diving is supported by 36 aluminium tanks in both Yoke and DIN configurations. Camera facilities include charging points and separate rinse tanks for underwater photography gear. Safety equipment includes a VHF radio, fire extinguishers, life jackets, emergency oxygen, a first aid kit, and a life raft. The rate includes unlimited water, coffee, and tea, three meals and snacks daily, the cruise director and dive guide or instructor, harbor fees, and snorkeling equipment for non-divers. Komodo National Park entrance fees for both divers and snorkelers, the Rinca dragon trekking fee, dive equipment rental, additional beverages, and gratuities are not included.
