Liveaboard in Indonesia

0 (0 reviews)

Teman is a 36-meter traditional wooden Phinisi liveaboard built in 2017, accommodating 12 guests across 5 cabins. Positioned around diving and leisure rather than a pure dive-focused program, the vessel runs itineraries across Raja Ampat, Komodo, Banda Sea, Triton Bay, Sulawesi, and Halmahera, with scuba diving, snorkeling, kayaking, paddleboarding, trekking, and beach activities offered on every cruise. For the 2026/2027 season, rates start from USD $461 per person per day.

Teman — "friend" in Indonesian — is built around a philosophy of tailored, personal cruising rather than a rigid dive schedule. Every itinerary is officially classified as "diving and leisure," giving equal weight to scuba diving, snorkeling, and above-water activities including kayaking, paddleboarding, trekking, and beach outings. Cabins and trips are designed to suit divers and non-divers alike travelling together. While Advanced Open Water certification with around 30 logged dives is recommended, Open Water divers are also welcome, dived to a maximum depth of 18 meters with a dedicated private guide required at $100 per day, split among all Open Water divers on the trip. The crew, local to the regions the boat visits, brings genuine cultural knowledge to shore excursions rather than treating them as an afterthought to the diving program. At 36 meters overall with a 28-meter deck length and twin masts carrying six sails, the vessel carries a crew of 11 for a maximum of 12 guests — close to a 1:1 ratio.

Five cabins accommodate up to 12 guests. One Master cabin offers the most spacious layout. Two Triple cabins combine a double bed with a single bed, suited to families or groups of three. Two Double cabins can also accommodate an extra bed on request for added flexibility. All cabins are air-conditioned with en-suite bathrooms, hot and cold water showers, reading lights, and European electrical sockets. Common areas include an open lounge and dining area with 270-degree views, a sun deck for daytime relaxation and stargazing, and a leisure deck for downtime between activities.

Diving and snorkeling equipment, nitrox, and Starlink WiFi are all available at an additional cost rather than included in the base rate. PADI-certified dive guides, a dedicated snorkel guide, and a Cruise Director lead all activities. A separate snorkel dinghy is typically available alongside the main dive tenders, letting divers and snorkelers run independent excursions rather than one group waiting on the other. Two kayaks (one double, one triple) and two paddleboards are available for exploring calm bays and lagoons inaccessible by the main vessel. Beach BBQs are a regular feature of itineraries, along with guided treks to volcanic viewpoints and coastal trails. Navigation and safety equipment includes Garmin GPS, Icom radar, VHF and SSB radios, a satellite phone, and Starlink WiFi hardware onboard. For the 2026/2027 season, primary destinations are Raja Ampat, Komodo, and the Banda Sea, with bespoke cruises available on request to Triton Bay, Sulawesi, and Halmahera.
