SeaTrek Ombak Putih
Crociera di piacere a Indonesia
Ombak Putih is a 42-meter traditional Phinisi sailing vessel launched in 2012, accommodating 24 guests across 12 cabins. The larger of SeaTrek's two vessels, she sails alongside fleet partner Katharina on shared and parallel itineraries throughout the year, led by Captain Jufri and a crew of 14. No diving onboard; snorkeling, kayaking, paddleboarding, wildlife encounters, cultural visits, and trekking are the focus. For the 2026/2027 season, rates start from USD $790 per person per day.
Ombak Putih — "White Wave" in Indonesian — is the flagship of SeaTrek Sailing Adventures, a company that has been leading expedition-style sailing in Indonesia since 1986. Built in 2012 and completing over 500 voyages, she is designed for ocean crossings: tall masts, broad sails, and a hull built for longer passages between the distant island groups of the eastern archipelago. Like fleet partner Katharina, the vessel sits firmly in the leisure and exploration category. The onboard program is built around surface and shore experiences — snorkeling, kayaking, birdwatching for hornbills and birds of paradise, Komodo dragon encounters, waterfall treks, village visits, and quiet time on deck as the islands unfold. WiFi is intentionally absent, with the vessel frequently off-grid for days at a time in the far reaches of Maluku and West Papua — a deliberate design choice rather than a limitation.
Twelve cabins accommodate up to 24 guests across three configurations, all on the lower deck with natural light through portholes. Six Double cabins each offer a full-size double bed, generous under-bed storage, a dedicated dresser, individual air conditioning, and a private en-suite bathroom. Two Triple cabins feature a full-size double bed with a retractable single upper bunk, reserved for families traveling with one child. Four Twin Bunk cabins offer upper and lower single beds with individual storage and private en-suite bathrooms. Children are welcomed during school holiday periods from June through August and December through January; children under 4 are not permitted on shared cruises.
The seasonal itinerary follows the same rhythm as Katharina. From April through September, Ombak Putih operates Komodo and Beyond routes in the central and southern archipelago, including Komodo National Park, whale shark encounters in Saleh Bay, and the ring-of-fire island chains east of Komodo. From October through March, she heads north and east into the Spice Islands, Maluku, Raja Ampat, and West Papua. Many cruises are led by specialist guides — marine biologists, coral scientists, zoologists, and cultural experts — and the Orangutans & Dragons itinerary includes a Borneo component on a dedicated river vessel. Both boats go offline for three weeks each March for annual safety inspections.
All meals, soft drinks, tea, coffee, snacks, park fees, port fees, local guides, cultural performances, snorkeling gear, kayaks, paddleboards, fishing gear, laundry, and transfers are included. Alcohol is included at the beach BBQ and farewell dinner; otherwise available for purchase. Crew and guide gratuities are not included.
