A multi-destination liveaboard operator with vessels from Indonesia to the Maldives, Egypt, and beyond — Aurora is DUNE's Indonesian flagship, bookable on Coralbound.

This is a platform spotlight. If you're here to plan an Indonesia liveaboard trip, start with the Indonesia liveaboard guide.

DUNE

DUNE operates liveaboards across a genuinely wide spread of destinations — Indonesia, the Maldives, Egypt, Djibouti, Sudan, Saudi Arabia, and beyond, with vessels also covering the Red Sea and further afield. It's a considerably larger operation than most single-country liveaboard brands, with the scale to run standardised safety and service practices across every boat in the fleet regardless of region. Aurora is the vessel representing DUNE's Indonesian operation, with more of the wider DUNE fleet expected to join Coralbound as we expand beyond Indonesia.

DUNE's roots in Bali run deeper than the liveaboard alone. The operator runs PADI dive centres in Sanur and Nusa Penida — Dune Bali, a 5-star PADI Career Development Centre with close to 25 years in the region, and Dune Penida, a PADI Eco Centre with Green Fins certification known for manta ray and mola mola encounters. Day trips and land-based dive safaris through these centres aren't live on Coralbound yet, but they're available to book on request.

Aurora

Aurora is a 42-metre traditional phinisi built in Sulawesi, blending wooden craftsmanship with modern diving facilities. She accommodates up to 18 guests across nine air-conditioned cabins in two categories — Superior Cabins on the main deck with sea views, and Standard Cabins on the lower deck — both with en-suite bathrooms and daily housekeeping.

A crew of 19 handles gear assembly and disassembly for every dive, with cold drinks and warm towels waiting on return. The onboard chef prepares local and international cuisine, with dedicated vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free menus available. An air-conditioned salon and open sun deck give guests space to relax between dives.

Nitrox is complimentary for certified divers, and the cabin rate is genuinely all-inclusive — port fees and national park fees are covered rather than charged separately on board. Soft drinks, alcohol, and equipment rental are the main exceptions, available at an additional cost.

Where Aurora sails

Itineraries for the 2026/2027 season run 6 to 12 nights across Raja Ampat, Halmahera, Lembeh Strait, and Cenderawasih Bay, following seasonal conditions across eastern Indonesia.

Cenderawasih Bay is a particular highlight of Aurora's schedule — a genuine expedition destination that fewer operators reach with any regularity. It's always run as its own dedicated departure rather than tacked onto another route: the transit from Sorong alone takes around 24 hours, so it isn't a destination any operator can fold into a shorter Raja Ampat itinerary. The bay is known for its resident whale sharks, drawn to the traditional bagan fishing platforms that operate there year-round, making it one of the more reliable places in the world to snorkel or dive alongside them.

What's available to book
