Mermaid I es un yate de motor de acero de 28 metros construido a medida para buceo, con capacidad para 15 huéspedes en 8 camarotes con baño en dos cubiertas. Operado por la galardonada Mermaid Liveaboards, el buque realiza itinerarios de 9 a 16 noches desde Bali y Sorong a través de Komodo, Raja Ampat, Mar de Banda, Alor, Halmahera y las Islas Togian. Mermaid I es el más pequeño de los dos buques de casco de acero operados por Mermaid Liveaboards, uno de los operadores de buceo más condecorados de Indonesia, que ganó nueve premios Readers Choice solo en 2024, incluido el de Mejor Liveaboard General en la región del Pacífico. El casco de acero de doble motor es un diferenciador práctico en un mercado dominado por embarcaciones Phinisi de madera, que ofrece mayor durabilidad estructural y estabilidad en cruces de aguas abiertas. Uno de los pocos operadores que zarpa de Bali, Mermaid I realiza sus itinerarios de Komodo de mayo a octubre como circuitos de Bali a Bali, que incluyen un paso por Sumbawa con una parada en la Bahía de Saleh para encuentros con tiburones ballena, una ruta que muy pocos liveaboards indonesios ofrecen. De noviembre a abril, el buque se traslada a Raja Ampat operando desde Sorong. Más allá de los circuitos estacionales estándar, Mermaid I también opera cruces extendidos de hasta 16 noches, como de Flores a Raja Ampat, conectando múltiples regiones en una sola expedición que la mayoría de los operadores indonesios no intentan. Ocho camarotes en dos cubiertas tienen capacidad para 15 huéspedes. En la cubierta principal, el camarote principal tiene una cama extragrande y vistas panorámicas al mar de frente. Cuatro camarotes de lujo ofrecen configuraciones extragrande o doble con ventanas con vistas al mar y puertas que dan a la pasarela. Un camarote individual completa la cubierta principal. Dos camarotes en la cubierta inferior ofrecen configuraciones dobles o individuales con baños en suite y acceso directo a la pasarela de la cubierta principal. Todos los camarotes tienen aire acondicionado con iPads para entretenimiento, batas, artículos de tocador de primera calidad y ropa de cama de 300 hilos. Se aplica la compartición de camarotes neutral en cuanto al género para viajeros solos. Las áreas comunes incluyen el restaurante Sawasdee con aire acondicionado y ventanas panorámicas, un salón interior con entretenimiento multimedia y biblioteca marina, una cubierta lounge exterior con sombra y una cubierta de sol con tumbonas acolchadas. Hay kayaks, un masajista a bordo y un profesional residente de fotografía y video disponibles durante todo el viaje.
La cubierta de buceo tiene 42 m² con una amplia plataforma de popa, dos escaleras de salida, duchas de agua dulce, seis tanques de enjuague para cámaras y áreas dedicadas para la preparación de cámaras. Tres compresores Bauer suministran aire junto con un sistema de nitrox de membrana de 600 litros por minuto que produce EAN 32-36%. Internet Starlink está disponible a bordo.
