German naval engineering, Sulawesi craftsmanship, and one of the very few Indonesian liveaboards built for serious surf trips as much as serious diving. Fenides is now on Coralbound.

This is a platform announcement. If you're here to plan an Indonesia liveaboard trip, start with the Indonesia liveaboard guide.

Fenides

Fenides sits among the highest-specification liveaboards in Indonesia. Designed by naval architect Michael Schnadhorst and hand-built by the Konjo boat builders of Ara, South Sulawesi, she combines German engineering with traditional craftsmanship — ironwood and teak construction finished to a standard closer to a private superyacht than a typical phinisi charter. She undergoes dry dock maintenance annually, sometimes more than once a year, an operational discipline that shows in how the boat holds up trip after trip.

A crew of 11 serves a maximum of 11 guests — a genuine one-to-one ratio, uncommon even among luxury vessels in Indonesia.

More than a diving liveaboard

What sets Fenides apart in the Indonesian market is the dual focus built into her design. Alongside a full diving program across Komodo, Raja Ampat, the Banda Sea, Alor, and Halmahera, Fenides runs dedicated surf itineraries to Raja Ampat, Halmahera, and Sumba — one of Indonesia's most rewarding and least crowded surf regions, reached by very few liveaboards anywhere in the country. Diving and snorkelling trips are also available for groups who want a more relaxed pace alongside time in the water rather than a structured surf or dive program.

Beyond diving and surfing, water sports on board include kayaking, stand-up paddleboarding, fishing, and wakeboarding, with onboard massage and yoga sessions rounding out the leisure side of the trip. Access to more than 300 dive sites across her itineraries gives Fenides genuine range to match whichever activity guests are there for.

Cabins

Five cabins accommodate up to 11 guests across two decks. The Master Suite, at 20 sqm on the lower deck, includes an additional single bed. Two Double Cabins and two Twin Cabins, each 12 sqm, complete the layout, with two of the doubles on the upper deck for elevated views. All cabins are air-conditioned with en-suite bathrooms, premium linens, and full media systems.

The main deck houses a sundeck, a teak-lined saloon, and a bar fitted with a Bose marine sound system, alongside a dedicated climate-controlled camera room with six desks for underwater photographers and videographers to set up, charge, and edit their work between dives.

Diving and water sports setup

Diving is supported by Bauer compressors and a CompAir nitrox system, with two RIB tenders each powered by 50HP engines handling site access. Nitrox is included in the rate, alongside all meals, soft drinks, tea and coffee, water sports equipment, beach barbecues, land excursions, and satellite WiFi. Dive equipment rental is included on private charters; on standard shared departures, it's available to rent separately. National park and port fees are charged separately from the cabin rate.
