Tiaré Cruise
Tiaré is a 36.5-metre traditional phinisi, conceived, designed, and built over three years by five cousins with backgrounds spanning architecture, engineering, and cuisine. Every design decision was made from the guest's perspective first, and it shows in the detail — interiors and decks finished in antique teak salvaged from old Javanese Joglos, reducing the need for newly harvested timber while giving the boat a distinctly Indonesian character.
She carries up to 14 guests with a crew of 17, including two cruise managers who are also dive instructors, two dedicated divemasters, two chefs, and two stewards — one of the more comprehensive staffing structures for a boat this size in Indonesia.
Diving and leisure, properly balanced
Tiaré dives a lot, but she's built without a raised superstructure, which frees up unusually generous sun deck and lounge space compared to boats of a similar size. Three tenders support the operation, including a dedicated snorkelling dinghy separate from the dive tenders, so snorkellers and divers aren't sharing the same boat and schedule.
The diving side is properly equipped for it: individual ENOS beacons for every diver, hot water showers on the dive deck, personal dive stations with storage, and nitrox available onboard. Even certified divers who are relatively new can be accommodated — Discover Scuba Diving and certification courses run onboard, not just refreshers. A 10-metre camera table with dedicated shelving, multiple charging stations, and a data transfer workstation makes Tiaré a well-regarded choice for underwater photographers too.
For downtime between dives, there's a towable fun tube, kayaks, and stand-up paddleboards included in the trip price — genuinely leisure-oriented rather than an afterthought bolted onto a dive schedule.
Cabins and comfort
Six cabins accommodate up to 14 guests across three configurations — four king-size cabins and two twin cabins for couples and pairs, plus two triple cabins with a double bed and an additional single above, suited to families or groups of three. All cabins are air-conditioned with en-suite bathrooms, hair dryers, mosquito repellent, 220V charging, and a shore set of hat, towel, suntan lotion, and thermos for excursions.
The lounge runs to genuine detail — an espresso machine and American coffee maker, a juice extractor, an ice machine, wine cellars for red and white, and a stereo system running to both indoor and outdoor speakers. WiFi is available throughout, though not guaranteed in the more remote areas of the itinerary.
Where Tiaré sails
Itineraries run 7 to 14 nights across Raja Ampat, Komodo, Alor, the Banda Sea and Forgotten Islands, Triton Bay, and Halmahera. Tiaré undergoes annual dry dock in June for approximately four weeks. Park and port fees are charged separately per itinerary rather than folded into the cabin rate.
