Dewi Nusantara

Dewi Nusantara — "Goddess of the Archipelago" — is a 58-metre three-masted wooden topsail schooner, custom-built in 2008 and widely regarded as one of Indonesia's premier liveaboards. She's been voted Best Indonesian Liveaboard and featured in CNN Travel's roundup of the world's most luxurious dive boats, and was previously named DIVE Magazine's Number One Liveaboard in the World.

At 18 guests across nine cabins with a crew of 23, the space-to-guest ratio is unusually generous — closer to a small yacht than a typical liveaboard. Itineraries run 9 to 11 nights and are planned seasonally to put the boat in the best conditions for each region, covering Raja Ampat, Komodo, the Banda Sea, Alor, Triton Bay, Cenderawasih Bay, Halmahera, the Forgotten Islands, and the Bomberai Peninsula — one of the few liveaboards covering this full breadth of Indonesian diving.

The Master Suite

The Master Suite sits in the aft quarters of the main deck, occupying the vessel's full width with a 180-degree view of the ocean off the stern. At 46 sqm, it's among the largest cabins on any liveaboard anywhere in the world — furniture custom-designed by Bruno Helgen, a king-size bed, an en-suite bathroom with a bathtub facing the ocean, and a separate air-conditioned sitting area with a corner sofa. Rear windows open for fresh air, and storage is generous enough to genuinely unpack for the trip rather than live out of a bag.

Deluxe Staterooms

Eight Deluxe Staterooms on the lower deck each measure 20 sqm — individually designed with distinct colour schemes and carved woodwork, adaptable to twin or double configuration. Each has an en-suite bathroom, a porthole, reading lights, 220V power points, and a proper desk for guests who want to work or edit photos in private.

Diving

Up to four dives a day are offered, including a night dive, run from two 7-metre fibreglass tenders built to the vessel's own specifications in 2019. Dive groups are capped at four divers per guide, with detailed briefings — including hand-drawn site maps — before every dive. Every diver carries a Nautilus Marine Rescue GPS locator for the duration of the cruise. Nitrox is produced onboard via a membrane system, available at a surcharge, with O2 analysers provided for guests to check their own fills.

Photographers get a genuinely dedicated space — a spacious camera room on the main deck with multiple charging stations, individual benches, and 24-hour access, plus separate wash-down tanks for camera gear and general equipment.
