Manta Rhei Dive Center
Manta Rhei has been running dive trips in Komodo National Park for close to a decade, based out of Labuan Bajo. It's a mid-range operator that knows the park well — consistent reviews point to the same things trip after trip: well-organised logistics, experienced dive guides, and a crew that runs a smooth operation rather than an over-produced one. Cajoma IV books out regularly and well in advance, which tends to be the clearest signal of an operator getting the basics right.
Cajoma IV
Cajoma IV is a 30-metre traditional phinisi, built by Konjo craftsmen from South Sulawesi, combining age-old woodworking with a modern standard of comfort. She carries just 8 guests across four cabins — a Master Double with a private balcony, two Deluxe Double cabins, and one Twin — each air-conditioned with en-suite bathrooms and both hot and cold showers. An onboard jacuzzi gives guests a place to unwind after diving that most boats her size don't offer.
The dive deck is spacious enough to gear up and break down comfortably between dives, with two tender boats for site access and dedicated rinse tanks to look after camera gear. Rental equipment, including dive computers, is available for guests travelling light, and tanks take both DIN and yoke connections.
The standard itinerary runs 4 days and 3 nights, with up to 11 dives including night dives — a full dive program for a short trip. Days follow a steady rhythm: an early dive, a lunch break, an afternoon site, and a night dive close to Rinca Island, finishing with Batu Bolong — one of the park's most iconic sites — on the final day. Land excursions to see the Komodo dragons and a walk up Padar Island are built into the standard package, and non-divers are well catered for too, with strong snorkelling opportunities alongside the dive schedule. Meals are buffet-style, three to four times a day, mixing Indonesian traditional cooking with Western dishes, prepared fresh throughout the trip.
