Aliikai Voyage
Aliikai Voyage is a 40-metre traditional phinisi, originally built in 2005 in Bulukumba, South Sulawesi, and comprehensively refitted in 2020 by more than a dozen local craftsmen. She carries up to 14 guests across seven cabins on three decks, with a crew of 12 running close to a one-to-one ratio with guests. She's been featured in the Financial Times, Harper's Bazaar, Travel + Leisure, and Prestige — recognition that reflects the level of finish and service on board rather than just the boat's looks.
She's operated by the same agency behind Mutiara Laut and Jakaré, sharing the same underlying philosophy: diving is one part of the voyage, alongside snorkelling, kayaking, paddleboarding, trekking, and cultural excursions across the islands she visits.
Diving and leisure, properly balanced
Voyages typically run one to two dives a day, guided and equipped with full rental gear and nitrox included in the rate — but the schedule is built around flexibility rather than a fixed dive program. Guests who want to spend a day snorkelling, kayaking, or exploring ashore instead can simply say so and the itinerary adjusts. A ventilated camera room and two tenders support the diving side properly, without it dominating the trip.
The hospitality touches show up in the small details guests consistently mention — warm towels and a fresh juice or ginger tea waiting on return from every dive, morning yoga on the upper deck, and a crew known for remembering preferences without being asked twice.
Cabins across three decks
Seven cabins accommodate up to 14 guests. Two Master Suites sit at the stern with large private terraces and sea views, offering the most privacy on board. Two king-sized cabins with ocean views sit on the upper deck, and three further ocean-view cabins are located on the lower deck. All cabins have en-suite bathrooms, individually controlled air conditioning, and wardrobe storage, with beds convertible to twin configuration on request.
Common areas include an air-conditioned indoor lounge and dining room with wraparound windows, a covered outdoor lounge and dining area for alfresco meals under the stars, and an upper deck sky lounge that doubles as a spot for sunrise yoga or evening drinks.
Where Aliikai sails
Itineraries cover Raja Ampat, Komodo, Alor, the Banda Sea and Spice Islands, and the Gili Islands and West Nusa Tenggara, with routes running between Sorong, Labuan Bajo, Bali, and Ambon depending on the season. Some Sumbawa–Komodo crossing itineraries pass through Saleh Bay, with a chance of whale shark encounters alongside the standard dive and snorkel program.
Aliikai is a good fit for beginners and non-divers travelling alongside experienced ones. With dive instructors on board, guests can complete a Discover Scuba Diving experience or work toward a certification course during the trip, rather than needing prior training to get in the water at all.
